Gonorrhea causes a number of symptoms such as vaginal discharge, dysuria, abnormal vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal pain in women and urethral discharge, urethral itch, dysuria and epididymal pain in men. However, more than half of all men and women with gonorrhea are asymptomatic. If left untreated, gonorrhea can lead to major sequelae such as PID, infertility, pelvic pain or ectopic pregnancy in women or epididymo-orchitis and possibly infertility in men.
